Project Chronicle:
- Established 1998
- Prepare planting dates saplings and fertilize the field in April 1998.
- 40% of the saplings are damaged by drought in the summer.

- In 1999, replanted saplings died more than half because of successive serious drought. On 20 Nov., the PF staff went to the school, joined community council's discussion about the program development and made a final resolution on 23: the remaining program fund were diverted as ‘Special Tuition Assistance ' which supported directly needy children in 2 separate years. Villagers raised some fund and volunteered labor to replant 200 new saplings.

学校背景：
学校地处黄土高原腹地，吕梁山区晋秦交界处，是全国十大贫困县之一。学区内水土流失严重，干旱缺水。村民基本停留在靠天吃饭的贫困状态。学校有60名学生无法按时交纳学杂费，其中20人完全靠救济生活。学校老师月薪100元。
项目细节：捐资建立20亩枣园，设立专项助学金。山西省农科院品种资源研究所，义务承担技术指导咨询。

- 截止2001年11月项目结束。20亩枣园293株枣树归学校永久所有。

- 1999年，连续大旱，补种的树苗又死去大半。1999年11月20日，基金会工作人员往学校工作，参加社区议事会关于项目发展问题的讨论。23日通过最后决议：将项目剩余款转做专项助学金，分两年直接用于救助学童。由村民募资并出义务工补种新树苗200株。
- 1998年6月—10月，无雨、大旱，村里的井干枯，村民往返2小时去山里泉中取水。村里组织村民挑水浇树，但还是死去大部分树苗。11月，购买150株枣树补苗。
- 1998年4月购买500株已嫁接的成品枣树苗。种植完成。
- 1998年3月启动。社区议事会成立，助学资金到位，20亩土地划归学校，村民义务开挖隔坡水平沟，完成基建工作。
