Project Chronicle:

  

  • The school facilities were built and funded by China HOPE Project. However, the new buildings can't guarantee the enrollment of financially disadvantaged children.
  • In September 1997, the foundation funded the Mushroom project in partnership with local government. The Foundation provided ¥33,500 to the project. 53 students received the Foundation's tuition assistance, and 69% were girls.
  • In April 1998, mushrooms started to grow. The local government contributed ¥7,376.84, and the villagers volunteered part of labor. (pictures show that students  and teachers prepare logs to grow mushrooms in the greengouse)

 

 

  • The Phelex Foundation provided additional RMB5,000 to ensure the success of the project.In September 1998, the project received proceeds of a total $3,567 in mushroom sale, which enabled 69 needy students to continue schooling. (see the chart below for tuition aid distribution)
  • April 2000, the school reinvested RMB12,000 to improve the production, and anticipated 23% increase in mushroom sales.
  • In Dec. 2000, the program proceeds funded 188 needy pupils valued at RMB 19, 980 including each of 15 extremely needy pupils received ¥380 per year, each of 30 needy pupils received ¥190 per year and each of 143 ordinarily poor pupils received ¥60 per year.


  

  • In the spring of 2001, the program changed tree trunks for packaged bacterial materials and expanded edible fungus planting by the request of environment protection.
  • In Sept. 2002, 48 people from villagers of 10 villages and pupils' parents consisted of ‘the Family Head School '. The Family Head School mainly engaged in investigating needy pupils' situation and supervising the financial situation of the school and its tuition aid program and the distribution of tuition aid fund.

 

 

  •  In Sept. 2003, the school was incorporated in 9-year compulsory education school. The school expanded the tuition aid program by the self-raised fund, further supported needy junior students. 
  • In Oct. 2003, the school was elected as ‘the Advanced Family Head School ' in the Yichang area.
  • In 2003, the program gained ¥9, 500 proceeds, spent ¥6,500 in funding 65 children.

  • 2003年实现收入人民币9,500元,救助学童65人,人民币6,500元。
  • 2003年10月,学校被评为宜昌地区“先进家长学校”。
  • 2003年9月,学校合并成为九年制义务教育完校。学校自筹资金将助学项目扩大,使初中贫困学生也得到项目救助。
  • 2002年9月,成立了由10个自然村的村民代表和学生家长共48人组成的“家长学校”,用以了解学区内贫困学童状况;监督学校、助学项目的财务情况以及助学金的分配。
  • 2001年春季,应环保要求,将部分树桐改为袋装菌料,同时增加木耳种植。

 

  

  • 2000年12月,项目实现收益救助学生188人次,救助金额19,980元。其中,特困生15名,每人380元/年,贫困生30名,每人190/年,一般贫困生143人,每人60元/年。
  • 2000年4月,学校追加投资12,000元人民币,香菇产量比预期产量增加了23%。
  • 1999年12月,项目实现收益救助学生153人次,救助金额15000元。其中,特困生10名,每人380元/年,贫困生20名,每人190/年,一般贫困生123人,每人60元/年。
  • 1998年9月,惠黎基金会追加投入5,000元人民币,项目收益3,567元人民币,救助贫困学生69人次。
  • 1998年4月,助学项目正式启动。当地政府为项目配套资金7,376.84元人民币,当地村民志愿参加了部分劳动。

来自希望小学的报告

——希望小学自然课教师、助学项目负责人叶国正


1997年3月助学项目启动,政府主管领导非常重视该项目的实施。3月中旬,政府批复了学校申请购买5000桐香菇桐的报告,并按有关政策减免了部分费用。4月中旬,乡党委书记罗明贵亲自到学校所在地为助学项目划拨两亩土地,并宣布土地为学校永久使用,之后又督促有关单位办理了相关协议书。政府还为助学项目配备了一名专业技术员。


1997年6月4日学校与基金会签约。同时,项目资金到位。7月基地建围墙140米,炕房24平方米,购成品桐3200桐。9月至98年元月,完成了成品桐架桐、搭阴棚、学生技术培训、反铺等工作。期间,拟写香菇生产技术课程初稿5篇,对全校400多名学生进行了第一轮技术培训。


98年2月至3月,完成了成品桐的第二次反铺架桐、新桐5000桐的收购与点种。在劳动过程中,师生积极参与,尽量减少开支。为多征5分地修50米简易公路,师生平整场地1000平米;搭香菇棚时,学校仅有的8名男教师全部上场,用了两个半天,搭棚近200平方米;香菇点种时,师生共参与劳动1000多人次,共节约开支近2000元。


98年5月,第一期工程全部完成,新购成品桐已出菇。5000桐新桐点种全部完成。在项目实施过程中,为增加项目的宣传力度,争取社会各界的支持,学校多次召开家长代表会和特困学生家长会,并与特困学生家长签定责任合同书,致全体学生家长公开信,宣传基金会的助学理念与宗旨,赢得了学生家长的信任和支持,大部分学童家长都从自家拿了栎树桐给学校支援项目建设。

98年9月,3200桐成品桐所创收的资金救助了15名特困生,每人200元,计3000元。

98年10月到12月,又购新桐3000桐,形成梯级生产。保证了创收的连续性和稳定性。
